Of course, most responded with the obvious: add more butter. But the community served up some smart ways to enhance your food that are perfect for those who eat fat in moderation.
For starters, substitute shallots for onions in your recipes. “This will make a world of difference and just add that extra depth of flavour [sic] that you can easily miss cooking at home,” says one user.
Another user recommends making sauces at home with fresh herbs and spices over dried ingredients and sauces from jars.
Several chefs advise using a sous vide to cook meat as people often overcook meat. This entails putting your meat of choice in a vacuum sealed bag and dropping it temperature-controlled water, which never reaches a boil, according to Bon Appetit.
If you don’t want to invest in a sous vide machine, one user recommends removing your pan from the heat earlier than you think you should, and letting it rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
When boiling or steaming vegetables, make sure your produce is still crunchy. Then, add seasoning and a little butter for flavor.
